Seven Bank and Japan Post ATMs generally dispense without DCC, but tourist-district shops, hotels and some convenience-store terminals do offer conversion to your card currency.

7-Eleven (Seven Bank) and Japan Post ATMs accept foreign cards nearly everywhere and typically charge no operator fee of their own. Your own card’s fees still apply.
Card acceptance is now strong in cities, but small restaurants, shrines and rural spots stay cash-first. Carry some yen.
If a terminal shows your home currency with a “guaranteed rate”, ask staff to run it again in yen; it is a standard, well-understood request.
