Say this at the counter
Forintban, legyen szíves
Say it: FO-rint-bon, LE-dyen SEE-vesh
It means: “charge me in HUF, please, without conversion.”
More languages on the refusal card.
OTP, K&H and Erste branch ATMs are reliable. Avoid standalone machines on Váci utca and around the ruin bars.
Cards work in most of Budapest; forint cash helps at markets, baths and small towns.
Forint amounts look huge (thousands per coffee), which makes percentage markups feel invisible. Check the disclosure line anyway.
