Say this at the counter
Í íslenskum krónum, takk
Say it: Ee EES-len-skum KROH-num, tahk
It means: “charge me in ISK, please, without conversion.”
More languages on the refusal card.
You can visit Iceland without ever withdrawing krónur. Landsbankinn/Íslandsbanki ATMs are clean if you do.
Card-only is the norm, down to hot-dog stands.
Watch the car-rental counter: deposits and damage holds are sometimes offered in your home currency at a marked-up rate.
What would a DCC “yes” cost you here?
