Banco do Brasil and Bradesco handle foreign cards best; many ATMs limit withdrawals (~R$1,000–3,000/day) and close cash functions at night for safety.
Cards widely accepted; carry modest cash for beach vendors and taxis.
Withdraw during bank hours from in-branch ATMs: safer, and less likely to be an independent machine with conversion screens.
